Sammy Jo Rudy
With a background in education and youth work across the Bay Area, California, Sammy Jo is aware of the many influences young people today are facing. After participating in the Challenge Day program while she was in high school in 2007, Sammy Jo felt a deep sense of connection to her community and to the crucial work of this organization. Ten years later, she is proud to serve on the board knowing full well that the Challenge Day program is a powerful catalyst for leadership, connection, love and self-expression as young adults venture out into the world. Sammy Jo believes that this kind of work has the power to create a more peaceful and connected world through the next generation.
Sammy Jo also works in the classroom as an educator and serves on her city’s Human Services Commission. Her involvement in the local and state political circuit is an additional avenue in which she promotes change through policy and legislation. Sammy Jo would love to see Challenge Day become even more integrated into educational curriculum!
If you really knew Sammy Jo, you would know…
- I am the queen of puns and love making people laugh with cheesy jokes (not more than I make myself laugh).
- I am a portrait artist in my spare time, rendering images of people with graphite.
- When I love people, I love BIG and will do just about anything for the people closest to me.
