7 Self Care Tips to help curate the ultimate self care routine for you.

Remember, every self care routine is different and unique to each person. These are just tips to guide you in a direction that feels right to you.

       1. Sleep

The first and probably one of the most important tips on our list is: sleep. Not a lot of us get it when we really need it. Should you come across a day where you have the option to get more sleep, decide if you’re sleeping early, sleeping in, or maybe taking a bunch of naps through the day. (I usually opt for the latter.)

  • Sleep In
  • Sleep Early
  • Take a nap

      2. Refresh

The second tip on our list is a refresher. What gets you up? Is it a shower? A walk? Downing a glass of water (which we all could do more of) ? Maybe a stimulant like tea or coffee? It’s a small thing, but it can make a big impact on our mood. No one wants to walk around groggy all day.

  • A bath
  • A walk
  • Downing a glass of water

      3. Social Meter

Next is your social meter. Ask yourself: Do I want alone time or do I want to be with people? For some, this question might be a no-brainer and we want to see friends and family that we haven’t seen in a while. But for others, solo time can be just as rejuvenating. Once you figure this out, you can go on to tip number four.

  • Group
  • Solo

      4. Leisure

Leisure. Now what? Are you watching movies, TV, reading, writing, chatting with a friend, cooking, walking? You decide! This is your time to do whatever it is you want.

  • Reading
  • Chilling
  • Walking
  • Watching TV

      5. Movement

Now that you’ve enjoyed some leisure time, let’s get moving. You may already had movement through your day if you were walking or going somewhere, but this is a little more of an intentional time. “Your mind and body are intimately connected. And while your brain is the master control system for your body’s movement, the way you move can also affect the way you think and feel.” – Srini Pillay, MD. Take this time to dance, stretch, run, walk, lift, do yoga, anything that feels good in your body. Turn on some of your favorite tunes and get going!

  • Yoga
  • Walking
  • Running
  • Stretching
  • Exercise

      6. Food

It’s time to enjoy some food. How you nurture your body is also how you nurture the mind. Everyone has different levels of nutrition, make sure your body is getting the nutrients it needs. And also, enjoy the food you’re eating! Are you a cook? Take out? Have a lucky person to make you yummy meals? With a day full of self care, your food deserves to be one of high priority. Try taking the time to eat mindfully, slower bites, really looking at the food that’s about to nourish you. Enjoy it.

  • Eat good food
  • Try mindful eating

      7. Mindfulness

Which brings us to our last tip: Mindfulness. We’ve included a free Mindful Minute Dash PDF from one of our programs that you can fill out. It includes writing about your emotions, coping skills, and healthy habits. If you want to take a less structure approach, whip out a journal, meditate, or do absolutely nothing. You’ve taken the time to enrich your mind, body, and spirit, now is the time to reflective, grateful, and mindful.
