Dutch celebrity Arie Boomsma is the interviewer and narrator of each episode. In the first episode, "PCC Het Lyceum in Alkmaar," we learn about the stories of students such as Frank who is disappointed with his teachers, friends, society, politics, and most of all, with his own dad. Another teen, Jasmijn, who is Frank’s best friend, was born in China and was adopted by Dutch parents. She feels as Dutch as her classmates but is teased by them because she is Chinese. Wibren, a popular boy at school, reveals that he was teased at school was he was younger. And there is Kawsar who is originally from Afghanistan and is responsible form taking care of her three younger sisters.
Frank is disappointed with his teachers, friends, society, politics and most of all: his own dad. 'He's a loser that is too lazy to work or to pay my mom child support. A few years ago I decided I didn't want to have him in my life anymore.' About his classmates: 'I don't really relate to them. I choose my own path, go with the flow and see what comes after that.' After Challenge Day he thinks totally differently.
Jasmijn is Frank's very best friend. Her roots are in China, where she was born. She was adopted by Dutch parents. A few years ago her mom was diagnosed with cancer. About her school: 'It's a very nice school but some people think they are really funny by making 'jokes' about my background. They say things like: 'go back to where you belong'. I feel just as Dutch as all my other classmates.' On Challenge Day she makes a stand by crossing the line at the category which explains that she is really hurt by the comments that people make.
Wibren is a popular boy in school. He's handsome, has rich parents and is a coach in field hockey. 'People think that everything goes easy on me, and I think that's kind of true. I never had any backslashes' he tells in an interview with our host. On Challenge Day he opens up more: 'If you really knew me you would know that in first grade I got teased a lot because I was the smallest one in class. I was an easy target to pick on.'
Kawsar is going through a difficult time. She is originally from Afghanistan. Her parents are dealing with family issues at the moment so she took over the care for her three younger sisters. 'I don't feel like their mom, I think it is most common to take care of them. Unfortunately my grades are not fantastic because I need sleep, but I take care of them with love.' Discrimination is not 'a serious issue' in her life. But on Challenge Day she crosses over at the first question on if you've ever been hurt or teased because of your religious beliefs. 'If you cross over, your heart is in your throat. But when you turn around and you see your classmates sending you love and respect, you feel very welcome.'
