How to bring a Challenge Day
Thank you for your interest in our programs!
We are now scheduling for the Spring of 2008 and Summer of 2008 and for the 2008-09 school year.
Schools who have previously hosted a Challenge Day will receive priority booking.
Follow these steps to bring Challenge Day to your school.
(Click each step for more information.)
- Form a Be the Change Team. (Now mandatory for booking a day!)
- Host Be the Change Team meetings and create a Be the Change Action Plan. (Now mandatory for booking a day!)
- Check out our booking policies
- Complete and submit our online Program Request (PR) Form.
- Implement pre-Challenge Day activities.
- Administer pre-Challenge Day student surveys.
How the process works:
- Form a Be the Change Team. Working in a Be the Change Team means the load is easier for everyone! Once you have buy-in from at least two other adults,
including a teacher and/or school administrator, download the
Be the Change Team Guide and
Be the Change Team Support Information booklets and form a Be the Change Team. To recruit for the team:
- Ask at least one school administrator to be a part of the team. He/she will attend meetings and provide approval for school-wide activities.
- Show teachers and parents the Challenge Day DVD and recruit their support.
- Recruit students from leadership programs, conflict management teams, and from the general population at student assemblies.
- Host Be the Change Team Meetings and develop a Be the Change Action Plan. Download the Be the Change Team meeting guide and the Be the Change Action Plan worksheet.
- Determine the number of Challenge Days you want, based on your team's goals for the school, your target student population, and your desired outcomes. Challenge Days work best in groups of 80-100 students, with at least 1 adult for every 4 students.
- Determine the financial resources you'll need to host Challenge Days, and create your fundraising plan.
- Determine the desired schedule for your Challenge Days. Include a plan for implementing pre-Challenge Day activities, as well as post-Challenge Day follow-up activities.
- Create a Challenge Day Coordination Committee. Download the Challenge Day Coordinator's Handbook and decide on roles for each person in the group. The handbook includes information about volunteers, facilities, transportation, and food. Make a plan to obtain these resources.
- Using Challenge Day's Be the Change Action Plan worksheet, create a Be the Change Action Plan for creating positive change at your school, and submit this plan to Challenge Day. These steps are now required in order to bring a Challenge Day.
- Make sure to check out our Booking Policies.
- Complete and submit our online Program Request (PR) Form to request your Challenge Day dates from the office. Please fill out the form completely, and use a separate form for each school.
- Implement pre-Challenge Day activities. Download the pre-Challenge activities here.
- Administer pre-Challenge Day student surveys. Download the pre-Challenge Day student surveys and distribute the surveys as outlined in the Challenge Day Coordinator's Handbook.
All along the way, have fun and make sure that everyone feels safe, loved, and celebrated!
