Monique was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. Growing up, Monique played every sport she possibly could, and her parents were always her biggest fans. When Monique was 11 years old, her parents split up and soon after, divorced. Monique has one older brother who she has always looked up to. Monique has a very strong work ethic and sets out to accomplish what ever she puts her mind to. She has a passion for making positive change and making the world a better place.
Monique has always loved working with young people, volunteering to coach various sports teams, working for playground programs and later getting a Bachelors of Education, with a major in English and minor in Physical Education. As a high school teacher, Monique attended her first Challenge Day in 2008 as an Adult Participant and fell in love with the program. The next day she was co-leading the Be the Change Team at her school, attending The Next Step workshop, and in 2009 coordinated 3 more Challenge Days at her school. Believing that she could have an effect on more students throughout the continent, Monique moved to the San Francisco Bay area less than two years after her first Challenge Day to become a Leader.
