How to Book a Challenge Day

What You Can Expect From Challenge Day

A Challenge Day is a 6 1/2 hour experiential program, in which we send two of our highly-trained, passionate Leaders from the San Francisco Bay Area to your school to lead a workshop for 100 students (grades 7-12) and 25 or more adults, including teachers, staff and family members.

Step 1

Form a Be the Change Team.

Working in a Be the Change Team means the load is easier for everyone! Once you have buy-in from at least two other adults, including a teacher and/or school administrator, download the following booklets and form a Be the Change Team.

When recruiting for the team:

  • Ask at least one school administrator to be a part of the team. He/she will attend meetings and provide approval for school-wide activities.
  • Show teachers and parents the Challenge Day DVD and recruit their support.
  • Recruit students from leadership programs, conflict management teams, and from the general population at student assemblies.
Step 2

Host Be the Change Team meetings & create a Be the Change Action Plan.

Download the Be the Change Team Meeting guide and the Be the Change Action Plan worksheet.
Be the Change Team Meeting Guide At Challenge Day, we use this meetings process at every meeting.
Be the Change Team Action Plan Complete and submit your Be the Change Team's Action Plan to our Share Team.

When hosting your meeting:

  • Determine the number of Challenge Days you want, based on your team's goals for the school, your target student population, and your desired outcomes. Challenge Days work best in groups of 80-100 students, with at least 1 adult for every 4 students.
  • Determine the financial resources you'll need to host Challenge Days, and create your fundraising plan.
  • Determine the desired schedule for your Challenge Days. Include a plan for implementing pre-Challenge Day activities, as well as post-Challenge Day follow-up activities.
  • Create a Challenge Day Coordination Committee. Download the Challenge Day Coordinator's Handbook and decide on roles for each person in the group. The handbook includes information about volunteers, facilities, transportation, and food. Make a plan to obtain these resources.
